Did you know that diamonds are formed under immense pressure deep within the Earth's mantle? It's the same pressure that can turn coal into a precious gem!
Pressure is where many start to crack, even the most highly patient people crack sometimes, I've seen it with my own eyes.
Although I would have to agree that some have a higher tolerance for it than others.
There are many different forms of pressure, but in my experience and my line of work, it's mainly in these five topics.
Financial, Workload, Relationships, Health and Performance.
But regardless of what they are, it always boils down to the same reasons.
Is Pressure Negative?
Many of my clients in these situations will always mention the same things to me but in a roundabout way.
They come in, sit down or we open communication online whether it's on teams or Zoom.
And they will say "I am under so much pressure" and I don't know how long I can keep going"
Now there isn't a magic word here I have and if you watch any other business coaches or life coaches and they say they have a magic wand, then I'd probably question it.
You see it isn't one thing, it's many things.
Negative Self Talk, Lack of Mindfulness, Lack of Self Reflection, Confidence, tiredness, and so on.
But the biggest thing is clients think it's a BAD THING. Clients always view pressure as the bogeyman at the end of their bed, and it isn't.
I am sure people watching this video are saying well ok it's mindset then? hmm yes, some aspects are. Because many of my clients and the people I have helped are perfect in every other aspect of their lives.
I teach my clients to embrace the pain, love it, and live it, and when it's gone miss it.
As individuals, we have been told that drama and stress and negatively are bad. But what if it was a good thing?
How many times have you had bad experiences, but later on you look back and you see it was a good thing? Yes, you see, perhaps bad things don't exist? Perhaps all "bad" things are good things.
You see when you start embracing the pain and hurt, it not only makes you stronger but gives you huge growth.
Next time a pressure situation happens. Don't react, not at all. Whether it's at work, at home, or with family and friends, don't react.
Sit for five minutes before reacting and ask yourself these questions.
1. If I look at this pressure as a negative, how will it make me feel?
2. If I look at this pressure as growth, how will I feel?
3. If I approach this pressure with calm and strategic planning how will it make me feel once I have completed it?
4. If I approach this pressure, with aggressive, anxious behavior like my world is ending, how will I feel once it's completed?
5. How could this pressure benefit me in the months to come?
Once you ask yourself these questions, you will calm yourself, and in time start to embrace the pressure.
OK, that's it for today, I hope that helped in some way.
